About Your Health
KEVIN BLANKENSHIP, MD
Dr. Kevin Blankenship started Waterfront Urgent Care in August of 2021. He has a storied urgent care background dating back to the late 1990s when he transitioned from working Emergency Departments throughout West Virginia before envisioning MedExpress Urgent Care with three partners (who were prior friends who met at West Virginia University’s medical school). Dr. Blankenship spent a decade as co-founder and Chief Operating Officer at MedExpress before his departure in 2011 to focus some time with his family. In the years since, he’s maintained a constant commitment to caring for others. He is currently the founder and owner of Jacob’s Ladder at Brookside Farm, a long-term addiction recovery facility, previously served as CEO of MEDcare Urgent Care in South Carolina, and subsequently spent several years leading a multi-brand operator of urgent care centers in Georgia and the Carolinas, as the Chairman and Chief Medical Officer of Brentwood, TN, based Urgent Care Group (who had acquired MEDcare Urgent Care).
Prior to his career in medicine, Dr. Blankenship spent time in the US Army before becoming a pharmacist. He is originally from Coal City, WV, and has spent his entire life calling WV home, with the vast majority spent right here in Morgantown.
